The role of a Eucharistic minister is a high honor of the church and a very important responsibility here at Oak Knoll. This past week, 15 members of the junior class were inducted as Eucharistic Ministers to serve, continue their religious journeys, and help bring the community together.
Juniors Maren Hux, Dani Rubino, and Christina Nestor are just three among the many who were inducted. Nestor ’24 was inspired to become a minister because she viewed it as an opportunity to serve the community and contribute to the religious environment of Oak Knoll. Similarly, Rubino ’24 said that it is a great way to give back the Oak Knoll community and strengthen not only her relationship with God but also with whoever she is delivering the eucharist to. Hux ’24 highlighted how she had seen the upperclasswomen play such a fundamental role during masses, inspiring her to do the same. The eucharist is such an important part of mass and it truly brings everyone together. Many of the students feel closer to the Oak Knoll community after becoming a minister as they are serving as the bridge between Oak Knoll and the Church. Rubino ’24 discussed how the process to become a minister was fairly easy; there was a short application, and then some simple training done during theology classes where they learned what their responsibilities were going to be and how to conduct themselves. It was an enlightening and knowledgeable experience for all the girls who participated.
In conclusion, this is a great opportunity for the upcoming junior class with many rewards for self and community growth. It is amazing to see our own classmates stepping up and contributing to the religious community cultivated here at Oak Knoll. We hope to see many more students step up to this prestigious position in campus ministry in the future and we wish all the best to the current ministers. Congratulations to our Eucharistic Ministers!
