As the first quarter is always a busy time for students and faculty alike, much of the Oak Knoll community is looking for a place to focus their thoughts and prayers away from the chaos of the beginning of the year. Located in the Grace Hall chapel, Mass takes place every Wednesday morning at 7:45 a.m. Here, students, faculty, parents, and alumnae gather together in the community to start their days for an often, much-needed, midweek pick me up. Masses are frequently said by Father Larry Evans, who is a beloved member of our community and well-known by students. He caters his homilies and messages to the student body, many times touching on how the ideas of love and gratitude are incorporated into our everyday lives. Father Larry brings an energy of positivity and purpose to each Mass, giving all of those present a bright start to their day.
Wednesday morning Mass is also a great way for students to get involved in campus ministry at Oak Knoll. Upper school students always play a primary role in these weekday Masses. Senior Eucharist Ministers can be seen giving communion, while other members of the student body read during the Mass. For those who are looking to get involved in liturgical ministry on campus but don’t necessarily want to read in front of the whole school or may want to experience it on a smaller scale first, Wednesday morning Mass is a great place to begin. If any students are looking to get involved but are not sure how to, reaching out to your campus ministry representatives is a great place to get more information.
Whether you are looking for a peaceful place to gather in the community, or want to hear another Mass said by Father Larry after he led the singing of “Go Make a Difference” at all school Mass, Wednesday morning Mass is a great place for students, faculty, and all members of the community to attend.
