OKS Volleyball 2023 – Ryan Arends ’25

The Oak Knoll volleyball team has had an incredible season. Following last year’s 1-16 record, the extraordinary athletes set their sights on greatness and left the crowd in awe this season. Under the coaching of Marinna Kwinta, the team held an undefeated record of 16-0 for more than half of the season. This immense change is a testament to the success of dedication and hard work. Coach Kwinta backs this by explaining that “ high expectations were set for the team, and the athletes wanted to work hard to exceed these expectations.” A team’s success requires everyone to work and grow together through highs and lows, and the Oak Knoll Volleyball team is an excellent example of this. However, being undefeated means experiencing battles, and at times, the team had to fight hard in games. During these battles, Coach Kwinta shares how she stays “ humble but hungry” and maintains a clear mind, motivating the athletes to fight for each win. The team has faced pressure and turned it into motivation; they’ve faced obstacles and overcame them with determination and grace. This undefeated streak isn’t just a result of physical strength but also a result of mental toughness. Coach Kwinta explains, “Finding perseverance and strength is a powerful force that will help you climb the mountain of setbacks.” This mindset is not only a great model for athletes but also for coaches who are striving for the same success. The team continued to thrive by beating Roselle Catholic and winning their division, making it to the semi-finals of the preps tournament, and creating a “Dig Pink” event to raise funds for Breast Cancer. Their remarkable record is a testament to the power of teamwork, unwavering determination, and the belief that anything is possible when you work together toward a common goal. The Oak Knoll Girls Volleyball team’s undefeated streak stands as evidence of their unparalleled skill, teamwork, and spirit.
