Oak Knoll Christmas time is a big part of the Oak Knoll experience and the unity, community, and connection it brings is unmatchable. For our article we decided to reach out to our fellow classmates and ask them their favorite part of Oak Knoll Christmas.
In the results the majority of our peers said their favorite part was doing Advent Angels. Advent Angels is when a student picks a name out of a bag with the names of the rest of the students in their grade, like a grade-wide secret santa. After you can write your person a letter with true or false “clues” as to who you are. Each person receives three clues and ultimately gets to guess who their Advent Angel is. You also provide a small gift of candy for whoever you have. This tradition is something a lot of Oak Knoll girls look forward to each year and continues to be an essential part of Christmas at OKS.
Second to Advent Angels, the next most liked part of Christmastime is the Royal Boutique. It is a fun way to get some early Christmas shopping done and hangout with your friends during the day. Some shops that really stuck out to us were Art with Heart, F. Gerald New, and Soxfords. There is even food sold near the check out, and we especially liked the pretzels and chocolate chip cookies. The part of Christmastime that came in third place was the Christmas decorations, this includes the Christmas trees in Grace, Connelly, Tisdall, and outside the Dining Hall; decorations inside the Dining Hall; and wreaths around the cafes. So whether you are someone’s Advent Angel, buying a new necklace from Summer Love, or stopping by Mrs. Hildebrandt’s office to get a candy cane, Christmastime at Oak Knoll is something you should look forward to!
