Mask Review!

Riley Carr ‘22

Because face masks and coverings are such an essential part of our life now, it only seems appropriate to give a review of one! Today’s review will be focused on the “surgical mask”. Surgical face masks were originally developed to contain and filter droplets of microorganisms expelled from the nose and mouth of healthcare workers during surgery, thereby providing protection for patients. Although there are many different types of masks in our world today, the surgical mask seems to be the most popular candidate among mask users in our school, as they are easy to breathe in, cost-effective, and proven to be incredibly safe.

This particular mask is made of very soft material and has a flexible design that allows it to fit comfortably on the face. They are often sold in bulk, sometimes including up to 50 masks per package. It is very cost-effective, as you are paying a relatively low price for a larger quantity of masks. A package of 50 can be found on websites such as Amazon.com for as low as $12.99!

In my opinion, this mask is my first choice when deciding which to bring with me to school every day. As mentioned previously, the material is very light, which makes it easy to breathe, and I can dispose of it when I am done wearing it! Therefore, I recommend using surgical masks because they are cost-effective, and they successfully protect us from germs and other viruses.
