While COVID-19 has canceled many things, fall certainly will not be one of them! There are plenty of fun and socially-distanced activities available to us, even during these trying times. Fall is a great season and there are lots of ways to enjoy all that it has to offer through exciting outdoor and safe activities.
If you are looking for a great way to enjoy one of the classic joys of a New Jersey fall, Wightman Farms in Morristown has you covered. The farm is running socially-distanced apple picking, maintaining a seasonal staple that we all know and love. The entry fee to farm events is $17.50 online and $20 if purchased at the gate, although the fruit you pick is not included in this fee. Additionally, Wightman Farms is offering hayrides and mazes for customers on Saturdays and Sundays in October! Masks must be worn at all times when on the farm to ensure the safety of all customers.
If you prefer the frights of the fall, Scare Farm in Hillsborough, NJ is proving that Halloween is not canceled this year, just looking slightly different. Scare Farm is offering three attractions for thrill-seeking guests this year. You can walk the legendary and terrifying fields and grounds on their “Creepy Hollow” adventure, climb aboard for the haunted hayride that is the “The Slay Ride,” or explore your deep fears in their walkthrough experience, “Paranoia,” which takes place upon sacred burial grounds. Each attraction maintains the goals of fun and safety for the guests, requiring masks, six feet social distancing between parties on the farm, and distancing in queue lines. Additionally, the farm recommends reserving and pre-purchasing tickets to ensure your spot on the farm!
In addition to the ones mentioned above, there are lots of other great activities available to do outside. Fall hikes can be extremely beautiful and relaxing, connect you with nature, and are a great workout as well! Simply going on a walk or run outside can also be a great way to take in the great weather and sights of fall. Additionally, you can do both of these things with others while maintaining social distance, so you will be interacting safely!
