Chat GPT: Pros and Cons- Grace Bienstock

Chat GPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot created by a company called Open AI. It is essentially a conversational model that can do things like write essays, code, have conversations with you and answer questions, and even create apps. Chat GPT is the next big thing in artificial intelligence, and has been growing a high amount of users in a short amount of time.

There are two sides to every story, and that is no different with the invention of Chat GPT. Although it can be a helpful tool, there are a few downsides to the new AI. Chat GPT can increase academic integrity and malware creation, a software developed to hurt another software. Academic integrity is challenged because Chat GPT can write full length essays and even be used to take benchmark exams with decent results. It can also be used to write false or inaccurate news articles and spread disinformation, and more. The chatbot can produce writing that is not truthful or doesn’t make sense, forcing the user to fact check when in reality the purpose is to find accurate information simply and quickly. The data included in Chat GPT isn’t up to date, so the user cannot mention something that happened past 2021 or else it will not be recognized.

However, there are many upsides to this new form of artificial intelligence. It can help the public with everyday tasks like writing emails and creating lists. Chat GPT is mainly a chatbot that you can converse with and ask questions about pretty much any topic. Along with essays, you can write poems and songs through the chatbot, translate languages, rework and fix code, fill out applications and create resumes, and so much more. There are endless possibilities when using this new model of AI, and this is just the beginning of the future of artificial intelligence in our daily lives.
