A Night at the Harry Styles Concert

Madeleine McKinney ’26

Harry Styles has just finished his Love on Tour tour, it being his second tour ever as an individual artist. Postponed twice due to COVID-19, the tour started on September 4, 2021, with a total of 39 concerts. The concerts have been wildly popular and successful, not to mention extremely hard to get tickets to as well. Harry Styles has aimed to write and produce songs that contain good messages. Some are about treating people kindly, such as his song “Treat People With Kindness.”

Obviously, the coronavirus and the safety of the people attending the concert was a concern as the tour had been postponed several times. Proof of vaccination or negative COVID test 48 hours in advance was required for all shows.

I went to his show at Madison Square Garden on October 31, called Harryween. Everyone was dressed up in festive Halloween costumes. Harry Styles was dressed as a clown with a white, frilly costume. The band members were all clowns with different colored costumes. There were fairies and witches. People brought signs with messages for Styles and he was very interactive with the audience, as he talked to us and made jokes. He also included several songs that weren’t from his last album, Fine Line. He performed “Toxic” by Britney Spears as well as “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction.  He made everyone at his shows feel welcome and safe. Overall, the concert was a blast and the experience was amazing.
